My dilemma as an artist is to visually translate an emotion through an image.

The subjects that I am attracted to are like vessels or metaphors for whatever is happening in my life. This of course is a retrospective awareness and I am always amazed at the subconscious selection of things. A tutor once said “beat your canvas till it sings”. I have never forgotten this visual philosophy and it is my sole aim. To have succeeded is to hear the song without seeing the bruises.
